First things first, an important question:
Why turn to a ghostwriter rather than artificial intelligence to write your book?
- First and foremost, if you are seeking traditional publishing, most contracts specifically require that authors have not used AI. This is because intellectual property rights require that the work is original. There is no guarantee that AI software has not already culled published work.
- Text produced by AI lacks a human quality. While it can somewhat imitate the human “voice”, it is still an inanimate program. It simply will not read as well and your readers will notice. They will not turn to you for future work and they may comment in public forums. This will undoubtedly impact your reputation as an author and therefore your sales.
An outline of how we’ll work together:
First, we’ll schedule an initial interview call to understand your motivations and goals in writing your book, and to answer your questions about the ghostwriting process.
We’ll come to an agreement regarding your time commitment (generally reading drafts of my progress and a regularly scheduled one-hour calls).
I’ll provide you with a contract covering payment terms, deliverables, rights and royalties, termination rights and anonymity.
I’ll draft an outline of your project and content creation.
I’ll begin drafting the manuscript. As I’m working, I’ll ask you for feedback at various points.
Proofreading and content edits are included.
At the end of the project, I’ll deliver the final manuscript.
Pricing
Due to the time investment required to write your manuscript, it is also a financial investment. Both in the technical skill and drafting processes. I have already invested the time to learn how to write a manuscript that meets the requirements of signing with both a literary agency and Penguin Random House. A process that took years.
Hiring me as your ghostwriter provides you with the benefit of that time investment.
Keep in mind, this is not a guarantee that an agent or a publisher will offer you a contract. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in any type of publishing.
My current rate is $45,000 (USD) for a manuscript of up to 50,000 words, paid in installments. I only work with one client at a time in order to focus entirely on their project. By investing with me, you benefit from my undivided attention, and previous time and skill investment.
Additional factors (such as changes to the outline or increases number of revisions), as well as a higher word count will increase the rate.
